Your First Visit

General Procedure

Our friendly receptionists will greet you when you arrive.  We often perform extensive diagnostic testing on the first visit, so plan to be with us for about an hour or two.  Please bring with you the following:
  • Your most recent pair of eye glasses or contact lenses (if any)
  • A list of your medications and allergies to medications
  • The name and address of your family doctor
  • Your insurance cards
  • Photo ID for identification verification
  • A companion to drive you home
We will probably dilate your eyes so that we can examine them thoroughly. Dilation will make your eyes extra light-sensitive and make your close-up vision temporarily blurred. Because the dilating may affect your vision for several hours, we recommend that you wear sunglasses when you leave the office.

Both eyes will be examined extensively to determine a diagnosis and treatment plan.  The doctor will review with you the findings of the exam and the options for treatment.  We will be glad to answer any questions and provide you with additional written information that we have available.

Fees

We participate in Medicare and accept most HMO and PPO plans.  Charges are comparable to those of other retina specialists in the area.

We will submit claims for you at no charge.  We appreciate prompt payment for our services. Please let us know if you are having financial problems and we will help in any way we can.
To speak with a representative in our billing department, please feel free to call our office at 515-222-6400 or 800-825-8462.
